Barberstown Castle

Welcome to Barberstown Castle Hotel

Known as the hidden gem in the village of Straffan, Co. Kildare

Barberstown Castle is a Four-Star Country House & Historic 13th Century Castle, we are located with easy access close to Dublin and leinster region and centrally located between four major motorway links in the heart of Ireland's Ancient East.

We are a proud member of Ireland’s Blue Book and The Historic Hotels of Europe.

This property is one of the first great Irish country houses to display its splendour to the outside world when it opened as a small guesthouse in 1971. It has maintained the elegance of design over eight Centuries by sympathetically blending its Victorian and Elizabethan extensions with the original Medieval Castle Keep of 1288.

It was a former home of the acclaimed Musician Mr. Eric Clapton from 1979 - 1987 where famous rockstars came to stay and played music into the early hours in our Green Room & Castle Keep. The Castle is now privately owned & managed and has been carefully upgraded from a 10 bedroom property to a 61 Bedroom Failte Ireland Approved Hotel, consisting of 58 Bedrooms, 2 lodges and our wonderful Presidential Suite.

We thrive on Special Occasions and our guarantee of a personal service teamed with our offering of crackling open log fires, spacious bedrooms, award winning dining and a warm Irish welcome. Take a look at everything we have to offer at Barberstown Castle, from Leisure Breaks, Exclusive Weddings or Gala Dinners hosted in our stunning 16th Century Banquet Hall. Conference events, Corporate groups or Private Dining & Parties in our Medieval Castle Keep and Irish pub.
